The CBC’s wildly popular reality series Dragon’s Den returns tonight for its 5th(?) season. This show is every entrepreneur’s wet dream. As long as your pitch gets aired you are almost sure to find success. Having a dragon, or all of them, invest in your company is the bonus.
If you haven’t seen the show, aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to a panel of five very rich people. We have (not in the same order as the photo above) Jim Treliving, the owner of the Boston Pizza empire as well as a couple of sports teams, Bruce Coxen, founder of the online dating service Lavalife, Kevin O’Leary, the founder of O’Leary Funds and CBC personality, fan favourite Arlene Dickinson who is a recent author and Marketing Guru and finally Robert Herjavec founder of an internet security firm.
All of these dragons have been in the entrepreneur’s shoes before so the negotiating can be pretty entertaining. Some ideas that are pitched are brilliant and some are obviously aired for some comic relief.
I hope to be on Dragon’s Den one day, but that’s a post for another day.
Dragon’s Den airs every Wednesday night on CBC at 9:00pm.
Tonight is the official end of summer as its the finale of Big Brother 13. It was an odd season to say the least. It had it’s peaks and valleys but overall wasn’t the most interesting. The weekly event outcomes were fairly predictable and there was not as much drama as previous seasons.
Adam is the worst player of all time. I’m going for Porshe and Rachel for final two and Rachel coming out on top. Even though I hate her character on BB she has competed very hard and I think she deserves it over the other two dumbos.
Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play
And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues strong
It’s always darkest before the dawn
And I’ve been a fool and I’ve been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I’m always dragging that horse around
And our love is pastured such a mournful sound
Tonight I’m gonna bury that horse in the ground
So I like to keep my issues strong
But it’s always darkest before the dawn
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaaah
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah
I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I’m gonna cut it out and then restart
Cause I like to keep my issues strong
It’s always darkest before the dawn
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah
And given half the chance would I take any of it back
It’s a final mess but it’s left me so empty
It’s always darkest before the dawn
Oh woah, oh woah…
And I’m damned if I do and I’m damned if I don’t
So here’s to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I’m ready to suffer and I’m ready to hope
It’s a shot in the dark and right at my throat
Cause looking for heaven, for the devil in me
Looking for heaven, for the devil in me
Well what the hell I’m gonna let it happen to me
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah
For those of you who know me, I am a sucker for sappy sad music.
I remember watching the 2010 Grammy’s and when they announced that Pink would be performing I thought she would do “Please don’t leave me” or another single from her album “Funhouse”. To everyone’s surprise, she performed “Glitter In The Air”. She did such a wonderful job! Very simple, very raw, very Adele like (minus the circus stuff). Definitely a tear jerker!
Diane Sawyer from ABC has scored the interview everyone wanted. The first interview with US Congresswoman Gabby Gifford will be filmed in the upcoming weeks. Gifford was tragically shot in the head last January during a shooting spree at a local mall in her home state of Arizona. The shooter remains in prison.
The interview will be aired in November followed by a memoir release the next day by Gifford and her partner, Astronaut Mark Kelly.
At tomorrow’s HRM council meeting, Gloria McCluskey is scheduled to introduce a motion to change HRM or Halifax Regional Muncipaltiy to something simpler. The twitter has many different opinions on this here are some recent tweets
porcelainduck -RT @pirie: re: HRM – Of course the city’s name should be Halifax. Of course council will not figure this out.
downtownpaul - Brand/name issues ARE related. HRM’s brand right now is of a city that does not know what it wants. Our name reflects that.
downtownpaul - I told Global TV HRM should re-brand as Halifax, “regardless of the cost”. Watch the cost estimate come back as $1 billion….
CitizenWilliams - @alexboutilier But imagine the ad campaigns! “Visit Hellifax: tell ‘em the devil made you do it!”
My future husband Anderson Cooper has a new daytime talk show and it premiered today (right now) on CTV.
He opened the show with a little sales pitch to Oprah’s audience saying how REAL he is and how REAL the show will be. REAL REAL REAL.
First up on ANDERSON is Amy Winehouse’s parents. The poor things. I feel they’re vulnerable side was definitely exploited in the hopes of making good TV and getting Oprah’s audience to cry and feel emotional. I guess they did agree to come on the show.. but still. At one point it was very blatant that Anderson’s producers were trying to get them to cry, playing emotional clips while keeping the camera on them in hopes of a break down.
Anderson, stop trying so hard, take off your shirt, giggle and you’ll be fine.
